Starting to look really good! I love that Kia is f inally getting the front roofline kink onto all their cars. Light design is looking lit. I should write up some fun info on the Borrego soon, like how that body- on- frame, three-row SUV weighs less than all comparable G80 sedans. Yep, even with the V8 and 4WD versus a G80 5.0 AWD. Same city fuel economy because of that!
The tester is running the upsized Sportage wheels. Looks like the Telluride is FWD-based so a Traverse, Highlander, Ascent competitor. That means a mild -hybrid diesel can be available right at launch in the US. We are still a year or so away from the RWD cars getting diesel availability in the US.
And picture of a 2019 refreshed Sportage for ya.
* Oh, for those that didnt know, this is the roofline kink Kias have at the windshield :
The F150 has it too. Just random facts I keep stashed and never get to use...

It’s named after a famous ski resort. Kinda tells you what image they're going for.

I think something like Kia Sell Ur Ride will be the name that ends up being used in online comments.

Telluride is a town in Colorado, at the end of the infamous Black Bear Pass trail.

FYI - the Telluride will not actually be made in Telluride, CO (if it’s ever made at all) . Therefore it will be subject to all kinds of tariffs , and an addition fake-name tax. Even if they build it in Georgia!

Why are they testing a Sportage in the Nurburgring?

Stress testing and checking things such as ESC (which is the real reason CUVs have taken over the world).

Kia ESC sucks. too nan
ny state! But that seems like a good reason. Plus, who wouldn’t want to put a Sportage through its paces?

In most newer cars it’s usually the gearboxes rather than the ESC stepping in. Try turning ESC Off in the Stinger if you haven’t already. In m ost cars it’s “Sport Mode” and hold Traction Control Off for 4+ seconds. If you notice the car is hitting the rev limiter and shifting on its own then it’s usually the gearbox making sure you cant access a warranty claim (especially since HMG makes all of their engines and transmissions).
L et me know what you go through since this is all just my conclusions from a few experiences. Cars vary so much between trim levels, powertrains, and even climate that who knows what differences you find.

Well, gearbox tunning and leccy
throttle pedal make sure you don’t do anything stupid. I could drive without the ESC or TCS in a rainstorm on ecomode and not bother the tyres at all. However Sport + is much more permissive and doesn’t act up until you have a nice angle on a drift.
